StogieSpy tracks 5,730 priced cigars across 83 retailers. These are the patterns in that data — measured, not asserted.
Price dispersion. Buy the same cigar in the same pack size and the dearest retailer charges 22.8% more per stick than the cheapest (median); for the widest quarter of the catalog the gap is 42.7% or more. Sample: 10,619 cigar-and-pack-size combinations across 4,480 cigars stocked by two or more retailers.
Shipping. For 11.9% of cigars the lowest advertised price is not the lowest delivered cost; when that happens, buying on advertised price costs a median of $0.79 per stick more. Sample: 1,377 cigars where every in-stock listing publishes a shipping cost.
Availability. The cheapest listing is in stock 68.6% of the time, against 76.2% for every other listing, across 5,096 cigars.
Method: in-stock offers only; one price per retailer per pack size; medians, not means; per-stick observations below 40% of a cigar's own median are dropped as bad parses.
